Greenland's Rubies
Occurrences of rubies in Greenland have been known for centuries, but it was not until 1966 that geologist Martin Ghisler found the first Greenlandic rubies. Since then, it has been one of the world's most sought-after gemstones.
The rubies are mined from one of the world's oldest rock formations, dating back about 3 billion years. It is located in the South Greenland town of Aappaluttoq, where Greenland Ruby now produces the most beautiful rubies.
It is a sensation that the Kingdom of Denmark has its own gemstone. The ruby's red color is naturally associated with the color of passion, power, and love. It radiates warmth, strength, and vitality. Therefore, the ruby is considered the "king" of all gemstones. For over a thousand years, the stone has been regarded as one of the most valuable gemstones on earth due to its rarity and quality.
The ruby is also said to inspire creativity, wisdom, and love. Additionally, it is associated with success, luck, and wealth. No wonder one of its nicknames is "The King of Gems."
